Advocacy & Outreach by the Authority

Background
The Act has many reformative and path-breaking provisions beneficial to the home
buyers in particular and the real estate sector in general if there is adequate awareness
among all the stakeholders. It has been experienced that quite a good number of
different stakeholders including home buyers and the real estate promotors are not well
aware of the objectives of RERA and the rules and regulations made thereunder.
Therefore, it is extremely important to disseminate awareness among the public at large,
especially about what RERA stands for and how various provisions can benefit them. The
prospective investor must know that before buying a property in a real estate project
whether it is an apartment or plot, they should not only check the registration number of
the project with RERA but also the finer details of respective projects
Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority (U.P. RERA) understands the importance
of creating an information, education, and communication (IEC) campaign among its
stakeholders. That is why RERA has adopted a multi-level and multi-channel awareness
programme for dissemination of information relating to RERA, its rules & regulations as
well as the operational compliances required at every step. Further, the Authority has
initiated several measures to ensure that all the stakeholders including the home buyers,
promoters, real estate agents, development authorities, financial institutions,
associations of allottees (AOA) and associations of the promoters are made aware of every
aspect of RERA and the related rules and regulations.
Objectives of IEC Activities
• To enhance the visibility of U.P. RERA amongst all stakeholders, including the home
buyers/home buyers’ associations, promoter/promoters’ associations, real estate
agents/their associations, competent authorities, etc.
• To create awareness campaigns for the Authority.
• To promoter meaningful interaction between U.P. RERA and all the stakeholders.
• To raise awareness about the objectives of U.P. RERA, its activities and the achievements,
provisions of the Act, the Rules & the Regulations and contribute towards building trust
between various institutions and the stakeholders.
• To develop visibility of U.P. RERA on all forms of the media including popular social media
platforms with a view to create awareness among all.
• In-house capacity building for activities related to public and media relations.
Advocacy & Outreach Activities
The U.P. RERA has created awareness and educative campaigns for all stakeholders
covering all forms of media i.e. print, electronic, social, and outdoor media. Identification
of need, target audience, and desired outcomes are essential towards designing an
effective outreach strategy. Keeping these objectives in mind, the Authority has decided
to create awareness and engagement programs for stakeholders, including on-ground
campaigns and direct media messaging.
